Lisa Stewarts passion for jewelry stems from a diverse history of simple observation. Having come from an extensive background in fashion and costume design, she viewed the culture of one season fashion as uninteresting and not practical in todays society. Lisa was inspired by the simplicity and timelessness of designers like Elsa Peretti and Paloma Picasso, and always loved the design of the 1970s jet set life style. She combined her knowledge of the fashion world with her aesthetic for simple, clean elegance, and thus gave birth to her namesake line, Lisa Stewart Jewelry.
The collection was launched in spring of 2004 . Since then, women of discriminating taste such as Nicole Richie, Gisele Bundchen, Jennifer Lopez, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, Halle Barry, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Ashlee Simpson have chosen to wear many of the pieces.
The pieces are a sophisticated mix of 18k gold vermeil and semi precious stones, as well as some dark gunmetal and shiny silver pieces, which reveal her ability to diversify her visions into different media with a unique flexibility, while still keeping true to her simplicity of form. In 2009 she introduced the Monogram collection, which upholds her vision of the updated classic, taking the traditional monogram and putting it on rich leather bracelets.
For spring 2012, she is taking the one step further with the introduction of a capsule collection of Monogram evening bags.
In 2005, Lisa Stewart was nominated for the prestigious Gen Arts Fresh Faces in Fashion award by the editor of Angeleno Magazine. And today, six years later, Lisa Stewart continues to stay ahead of the pack, always fresh and modern with her clean lines and reverence for simple elegance. Many pieces in the collection remain, season after season, as she prefers to think of the line as classic, with pieces meant to build on a jewelry wardrobe.
Lisa Stewarts mission statement is to be a source of encouragement to single career moms. She knows how hard it can be to follow your dreams, but hopes that every woman with a passion just keeps at it one day at a time!
